Tiny paper label with script number on lower spines. Written by the German historian, theologist, and court preacher Johann Ernst Rudolph, Kaeuffer ((Käuffer) (1793-1865), who lived and worked in Dresden. The three parts, being the result of over ten years of study, comprise a general introduction, and East Asian (chiefly Chinese, Indian and Indonesian) history up to 500 BC, up to 1000 AD, and up to 1860. Three parts in three. 8vo (25.1 x 17.6 cm). 150 pp. [62;44;44]; 111 plates [1-31;1-36, 3B, 5B, 6B, 15B, 16B, 19B ;1-38], 70 text figures (page-sized), one folded table, one folded map in rear pocket. Original uniform printed wrappers and belly bands. A rare, complete set of this profusely illustrated monograph on European fossil deer, written by the German palaeontologist Hans-Dietrich Kahlke (1924-2017). The third and rarest part was announced on the belly bands of parts I and II as containing "die übrigen Skelett-Teile". This was changed into "Die postkranialen Skelettreste" when published. A printed strip around the cover (present for all three parts) states "Mit Teil III ... ist das werk abgeschlossen". Suggestions that this work should be complete in two parts are, therefore, incorrect. An excellent set.

The enlarged 3rd edition of most German language books dealing with Africa with indication of its rarity of more than 5500 titles. A mint copy.

Binding a bit weak; tear in the top margin of the first few text leaves; otherwise a very good copy.
