The article was published in "The Gun Report" magazine, Vol. 33, No. 11, April 1988, and a copy of the issue is present. Archive includes typed article drafts, handwritten notes, copies of archival documents, original and copy photographs, a pristine folded oversized map and publications. Most materials 8.5" x 11", a few pages of notes 11" x 14". All very good or better with just a touch of toning and edge wear. Previous folds laid down nicely. Map appears to have been framed as map is toned except for outer edges. Small foxing spot at bottom edge, far outside of neatline. Very Good Condition. Very pleasing map circa 1895 of several prominent mining and milling companies near Breckenridge, Colorado. The Jessie Gold Mining & Milling Co. was one of the largest mining and milling operations in Summit County. The Jessie stamp mill was competed in 1894. Thos. F. Perry, Chicago, Illinois is credited as cartographer. The Dania property, adjacent to the Jessie, was claimed and surveyed as of publication yet no mining or milling had taken place. Includes prospectus. Wraps and prospectus have light toning. Fine condition. Attempting to solve the unsolvable, the author places Sherlock Holmes at the crime scene of Edwin Drood, the subject of Charles Dickens' famously unfinished novel "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." This pastiche was first published in the volume "The Secret Book'' in 1914. This limited edition of 400 copies by The Aspen Press (their first title) is a volume sought after by both "Droodian" and "Sherlockian" scholars and collectors alike.

Six Alaska and Yukon 5 x 7 Inch Glass Plate Negatives 1914-1918 by Rev. Louis H. Pedersen All six glass plate negatives in Very Good Condition or better. 5 x 7 inches. One has small piece missing from corner. Typical emulsion flaking at edges. All identified in the negative; most dated in the negative. Great contrast and sharpness to images. Each photo in paper sleeve with photo information in pencil on five of the sleeves. Two sleeves imply the images were reproduced as RPPC's with the postcard brands Noko and Azo noted. We have digitally converted the negatives into positives--the set for sale all are original glass plate negatives. Outstanding collection of Alaska and Yukon glass plate negatives from the Reverand Louis H. Pedersen. Pedersen images are mostly seen today as real photo post cards or lantern slides. Photograph Album Showing a Woman's Trips to Germany, Niagara Falls, Virginia and Monroe, New York, with a Historical Bent, 1911-1913 5¾" x 8" flexible fabric album with 83 photographs adhesive mounted to construction paper leaves. Most photos around 3½" x 2½", 6 are larger, and nearly every page is captioned in a fine hand. Very good condition overall. Covers are lightly scuffed and worn, one leaf is loose, and around 24 images appear to be lacking, including a few excised. A few photos faded, a few scattered small stains. The last 7 leaves are blank. This album was compiled by Lillian V. Polak of New York. She and her husband Edwin were co-directors of a brokerage company, along with William Ehrenhaus, a German immigrant. This album features 9 shots on board the "Cleveland" in 1911 (mostly women on the ship) and 22 throughout Germany. All in manuscript--half pen half pencil. Docketed on verso. Good Condition. A special little document with a trifecta of prominent early Southern California names including John A. Rowland, Juan [John] Temple, and Rancho La Puente. Specifically, this is a receipt for grain (bran and corn) milled at Rowland's Mill located at Rancho La Puente. Juan Temple appears to have been the customer with a William Potter acting as agent for John Rowland and his mill. In early 1842, Rowland (also known as "John Roland" or "Juan Roland") petitioned for a land grant and received the 11,740-acre Rancho La Puente. Rowland left his land under the keep of William Workman (another notable name) until 1847, when Rowland built the first private grist mill in the Los Angeles region, Rowland's Mill. Edward Payson Powell (1833-1915) graduated from the Union Theological Seminary in 1858 and was ordained to the Congressional Ministry in 1871. He became an editorial writer for the St. Louis "Globe-Democrat" in 1896 and served on the staff of "The Independent" of New York from 1900 until his death. He was also an associate editor of Chicago's "Unity" and "The Arena" of Boston.
