Description:
A rare, well-illustrated report on a Mississippian village that was discovered when soil from it was being used as fill dirt while building a bridge. In fine condition, with former owner's name stamped on bottom edge and written inside front cover. Some sunning on the spine. Inside clean and binding tight. The Chambers site is in the Tennessee-Cumberland region, where many previous excavations have been carried out, especially during the Great Depression. The site yielded evidence of occupation during the period A.D. 1250-1350, the first in the region to come from an area not adjacent to a river. A rare report, in exceptional condition.
