Description:
Sebastian Faulks Birdsong (1993). Set before and during the Great War and told through three different windows of time up until the 1970s, it captures the drama of the era in national and personal terms. By any measure a classic. And a classic that will endure because of the powerfully writing, as well as the subject matter.
The first printing would have been about 1000 copies, given that Faulks was a fairly new author and only mid-list at best. It was subsequently very quickly reprinted many times over. Faulks has now withdrawn from book signing, but happily signed this new rebinding of the first printing. It is an edition of 12 lettered copies, with an illustrated limitation page. Issued by the Scorpion Press in 2022. Ordinary signed first printings on the market are sometimes priced at over $1500!.
