Showing Kathiawar Peninsular and part of India around Gujarat second to the last edition, substantially extended edition of Barent Langenes' Caert-Thresoor, published then at Middelburg. This edition is extremely rare as only "one copy known" (per Koeman in British Museum), and has no text, I.e. all maps show a blank verso - collector's item. copper engraving - NO verso text with some foxing along margins, barely affecting plate, with stain at left margin, not affecting plate.EXTREMELY RARE edition. While traveling with her husband Marcel, Dieulafoy dressed in men's clothing, a practice she continued even while in her native France. Condition: minor stains and dirt spots along margins, not affecting plate, paper creases.

Printed from Van Nooten's original sketches by P. Depannemaeker. Chromolithography by G. Severeyns. Mme Berthe Hoola van Nooten was born in Utrecht, Holland in 1817. A botanist, author & watercolorist, she moved & settled in Indonesia in 1847, where she painted over 40 fruits & flowers which became the basis for this album. 163pp, hardbound, with gold gilt on spine. EXTREMELY RARE. Spanish text. Francisco Carriedo y Peredo (1690-1743) is known as the Father of Manila's first potable pipe water system. As a retired Spanish Captain General in December 1733, he donated 10,000 Pesos drawn from his fortune from the Acapulco-Manila investments. This donation was to the city and commercial interests of Manila and was for the establishment of waterworks for the benefit of the poor in the city. As nothing happened to this offer, he again bequeathed in a will dated July 27, 1743, the same amount and for the same purpose, with the stipulation that the fund was to be kept separate and devoted to the establishment, erection, and maintenance of waterworks. The fund was kept separate, accumulated interest, and was further enlarged by a special tax upon meat, devoted to that purpose. EXTREMELY RARE copper engraving, on two sheets joined, in beautifully clean and intact condition - almost impossible to find in such pristine state. A most important chart from 'Dell' Arcano del Mare' [Mystery of the Sea] - one of the six maps that show the Philippines. Published in six huge volumes by Francesco Onofri in Florence. SECOND state 1661: cartouche shows: 2 o L o with manuscript insertion of XVIII underneath in an old hand. The Map stretches from the Arabian Emirates and Persia through the Indian Ocean and Indochina to the Western Philippines: from Batanes Islands, the Northern tip of Luzon, via Manila to the entire Palawan and the West Philippine Sea including several Shoals and the Paracels. Robert Dudley (1574 - 1649), an Englishman, produced this atlas while in exile in Florence. He likely received some of his information directly from his friend Sir Francis Drake and his in-law Thomas Cavendish.
