The History Committee, St. Andrews and Caledonian Society. Seemingly a well-researched book on the emergence of 3 Scots in what became British Columbia, 3 Northwest fur company explorers: Alexander Mackenzie, Simon Fraser and map-maker David Thompson. Then in 1811, two traders from the tiny Pacific Fur Company came north from Fort Okanagan and stopped in Kamloops; Scots Alexander Ross and David Stuart. In 1812, Alexander Ross returned to Kamloops and built a small trading post for the Pacific Fur company. Soon the Hudson's Bay company moved in and the rest is history.
On the title-page: "Compliments of the Kamloops and St. Andrews Society", plus the signature of an early owner of the book; o/w a VG+ copy.

A blow-by-blow account of The Campaign of Chancellorsville in 1863, wherein the newly promoted Joseph Hooker took command of the Union forces (130,000 troops) and in April, 1863 took the battle to the Confederate army across the Rappahannock river. Union casualties at Chancellorsville numbered 17,287, Confederate 12,463. Counted among the latter was Stonewall Jackson who was mortally wounded by his own soldiers in an accidental shooting. As for Hooker, he was allowed to "resign" from command, after Lincoln and his advisers determined "that both the check at Chancellorsville and retreat were inexcusable, and that Hooker must not be entrused with the conduct of another battle." Collector's Notes laid in.
The usual attention given by Easton Press gives us a deep red leather volume with gold decoration and spine title and author in gold as well. Gilt edges, silk moire endpapers and satin bookmark. The book does have one flaw: a small edge stain on the gold edges, pages 505 to the end of the Index, page 528.

The first of thse Wing commanders Flying was Group Captain Johnnie Kent of Winnipeg, Manitoba."

Published by Toronto Public Libraries and The 500th Anniversary Committee commemorating the Invention of the Art of Printing from Movable Types. Two very early printing presses of Upper Canada pictured across from the title page, with descriptions of both on the previous page and mention of the Museums where they ended up. Several other early printing presses are pictured and described. Section III describes the early methods of printing of pictures.

John Griffin, in collaboration with co-authors Ken Castle and Robert Smith, carries the compendium forward in this book, which covers the thirty years since the unification of the Canadian Forces in 1968. It traces the history of aircraft on charge at the time of the reorganization and provides details of the aircraft acquired by the newly created Canadian Armed Forces. Security considerations of the Cold War era required that full details on fifteen of the aircraft types, the operational fleets of those days, had to be "abridged". Those fifteen types are slso included here, even though they entered service several years before the formation of the Canadian Forces. Complete listings of tow aircraft and gliders operated by the Air Cadet League of Canada, as well as aircraft with Canadian civil registrations operated at the Canadian Aviation Training Centre at Southport, Manitoba, are included."

All corners are bumped. A Good Only copy but an uncommon title by this author, possibly because many of the original copies had the same problem. Only a few copies on Abebooks and Biblio.

It's a competitive dog show, and Carl's brother, Gamble the rottweiler is the champion; but Carl is still little Madeleine's champion. 3 pages at end of book with pictures of 44 different dog breeds. Published without d.j.
