Hardback with fascinating subject matter in which the transcriber, Farnese, has written of his communications with a "spirit" from the afterlife known as Franchezzo. This copy has water stained red cloth boards, stamped with the title and author name on front. The staining to the boards is significant, and some of the red dye has transferred to the outside edges of pages. Faded spine cloth. FFE is missing. Name in pencil at the top of title page. Hinges have split, revealing binding mesh. Smyth/section sewn binding has helped, for the most part, keep the book together. Pages have moisture waving, and are also age-toned. Bumped and worn cloth on corner tips and head and heel of spine. The textblock has darkened and also sports the staining from the red dye of the cloth. 286 pps.

Blue cloth boards are faded and stained, with darkening to the spine strip cloth. Gilt titling on front board is faded, with more significant fading to gilt titling on spine strip. Heel and head of spine strip have heavy shelf-wear, with significant bumping to heel. Wearing and discoloration to all the cloth on all edges of the boards. Previous owner name on FFEP. FFEP and first flyleaf page are crimped at bottom corner. Hinge cracked between FFEP and 2nd fly leaf page, which is dirty at bottom corner. Pages 285 to 308 have small crimps at bottom of the text block. Text block shows aging, and staining. Pages are unmarked. Back paste down has a faint pencil erasure at very top. Nice reading copy. 313 pages.

G. & C. Merriam Co., Publishers, 1923. Hardcover. Good. Large quarto hardbound. This dictionary has been beautifully rebound with lovely light brown leather over the boards. Raised bands on the spine. Front board has a couple of areas of discoloration and two horizontal scrapes in the middle. Scraping to outside edge of boards with a few scratches. This leather is really beautiful. The bands at top and bottom of the spine are worn (probably the reason for the rebinding). Paste downs and free papers are reminiscent of the old style of marbled paper. The pages have stains, and are moisture rippled. Tissue guard between frontispiece and title page is present, but crimped and stained. This is a beautiful dictionary, plenty of colorful photos and such. Wearing to lower corners of page block. Outer edges of text block have a couple of areas of thumbprint smudges. Upper corners of cover and first few pages are lightly curved upwards. Pages are clean and unmarked. Weight of book is 3.5 pounds.

Very clean, unmarked pages. Light soiling on outside of page block. Faint reddish mark all the way across bottom of page block, but it's not a remainder mark. Small dark pin-sized mark also on bottom of page block. Otherwise, looks like it could have been printed yesterday.

Veterans Information Service, 1960. Softcover. Acceptable. 23rd annual revision dated 1960. Glued binding supplemented by 3 large staples. Very yellowed copy, with darker yellowing in the gutters and on the page block. The covers are yellowed, scuffed, slightly dirty and scraped around the edges. Dented corner tips. Top and bottom of the spine are scraped, as well as along the edges of the spine. Covers have tanning along the outer edges. While the book remains tightly bound, the covers are more fragile along the spine. Pages 287 through 290 are fastened together by a paperclip at the upper right corner. The paperclip will remain in place so as to not possibly tear the pages if removed. Outer edge of text block has thumbprint marks. Pages are free of notes or underlining. Faint tracings of erased pencil mark on first page.
