Description:
Llandogo, Monmouthshire: Old Stile Press, 2001. new.. Designed and printed by Nicolas McDowall. Many woodcut images by Keith Bayliss were printed from the wood, including several printed in red on the cover of the book and two black images of medieval ships on the fabric covered slipcase. The layout of the book is unconventional, with the information normally on the title page zig-zagged across the front endpapers, and the rest of the information on the book likewise printed on the rear endpapers, but printed conventionally! The unconventional design as well as the exceptionally cut slipcase emphasize the symbolism of this tale of the thirteenth century Children's Crusade. Signed on the back free endpaper by the translator Malcolm Parr and the artist. Number 8 of 200 copies. Fine
