A very scarce American edition of the ballads of William Makepeace Thackeray, compiled from his various works, in a decorative cloth binding. A very scarce American edition of this work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with gilt detailing to the front board and spine and decorative end papers. All edges gilt.Ink inscription to the front blank, dated 1887.Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece and a facsimile signature of the author. A collection of poetry, compiled from all of the author's works, by William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863). Thackeray was best known for his satirical works, such as Vanity Fair and The Luck of Barry Lyndon. This collection includes verses such as 'Little Billee' and 'The Chronicle of the Drum'. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with small marks to the front board and light shelf wear to the extremities. Spine is slightly faded. Gilt remains bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
