Hutchinson. The first edition of this work. In the original unclipped dust wrapper and publisher's original cloth binding. This work follows an estranged husband who believes his only child to be dead until he finds her alive in a Swiss hospital. The journey that follows, set against the background of Marseilles and the Provencal countryside, is one of love, humour and sadness. The book met high praise, winning the W. H. Smith Literary Award in 1966. In the publisher's original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent with only minor shelf wear. Dust wrapper is also in very good condition with very light edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Contemporary ink inscription by owner to the front free endpaper, dated 1964. Near Fine
