Large soft covers/trade (roughly) 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" by 3" (inches) (in box/slipcase) square clean & tight, flat spines, with a total of 1310 pages filled with photos, Very Good Plus condition with a few spine creases, vol 1 has a lowerr spine bump at front edge, minor edge wear, slipcase is in Very Good condition with edge wear/rubbing & a small remainder punched hole. "On a July day in 1911 Edgar Rice Burroughs sat in a small office at the intersection of Market & Monroe streets in Chicago. He had borrowed desk space from a friend in order to launch his latest entrerprise, an agency for the sale of pencil sharpeners. The salesmen who responded to his ads were sent out on a commission basis. "They did not sell any pencil sharpeners,' he noted, 'but in the leisure moments, while I was waiting for them to come back to tell me that they had not sold any." Thus begins the first chapter of Edgar Rice Burroughs: The Man Who Created Tarzan. while he waited for the salesmen to return, Burroughs began to write "Under the Moons of Mars" (A Princess of Mars), the first of many works that have made him one of the world's most interesting writers."
