Illustrator: Maps and Illustrations. acknowledgements (and absolutions), foreword by Philip Caputo and introduction by authors. Dark cream coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with maps and the very occasional black-and-white illustration. 1/4 chocolate brown coloured cloth covered back strip with gilt coloured titles. 3/4 rust coloured boards with publisher's self embossed logo to the lower right hand corner of the front panel. Illustrated dustwrapper with brown, black and white coloured titles to the front panel and brown and black coloured titles to the back strip. Black-and-white photograph of authors to the rear panel. The authors were given an assignment to track down the scourge of tropical north Australia – the saltwater crocodile (a 'salty'). The crocodile itself proved elusive, but, they found a different subject – the people who actually live in a vast, unforgiving landscape. For, as the front fold over blurb states "... Greater Nowheres is a travel book like no other, a tribute to a remarkable collection of individuals who have left every form of comfort behind to gain wealth, fame, or simply peace of mind in the unforgiving landscape of the Outback." Softening of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners. Faint foxing to the text block edges. A little rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with fading of the back strip.
