First edition, in the publisher's smart black cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Written by English author, Emma Ford, who is known for her several works on falconry and birds of prey. This particular work presents the gyrfalcon, the largest of the falcon species, which is often spotted in North America. Ford explores this falcons role in history, its place in literature and its long-established use in falconry.Profusely illustrated throughout, with striking original paintings by Anthony Rhodes and Andrew Ellis, and photography by Robert B. Berry, Piers Cavendish and others. In the publisher's black cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely with minor shelf wear only.
