About This Item

Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 1969. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Second printing. Inscribed by Jackson Benson to writer and poet Vernon "Pat" Patterson on the front flyleaf, with a pair of typed letters signed (TLS) by Benson and two related newspaper clippings laid in. Perceptive study of Hemingway's use of satire, irony, and humor in The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Across the River and into the Trees, and The Old Man and the Sea. Octavo. 202 p. Original orange cloth binding, with black titles. The dust jacket is a touch sun faded along the spine, with a faint stain to the front panel and some light edgewear; otherwise very good.
