About This Item

[New York]: (Time, Inc, 1961. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Stated Limited Edition. Translated from the Spanish by Harriet de Onís. Illustrated by Juan Carlos Barberis. Preface by Arturo Uslar Pietri. Square octavo. 78 [3] pp. Text in English. Spine slightly toned else fine in fine slipcase. With a Typed Noted Signed from Denevi (on his letterhead) to noted Latin American scholar, translator, and critic Donald A. Yates (text in Spanish; old folds for mailing, a bit of rippling in one corner). In the letter, Denevi helps Yates understand the phrases "morderse el codo" and "estrás," and discusses a couple of business matters. Also laid in is an Autograph Note Signed from Yates (signed "Don") to a friend, noting that both the author and illustrator can be seen in one of the illustrations in the book. A nice association. *Ceremonia Secreta* was made into a movie in 1968 starring Elizabeth Taylor, Mia Farrow, Robert Mitchum, and Peggy Ashcroft.
