Lacking the original frontispiece and title page, with them instead present in facsimile. The first volume only of the three volume ninth edition of this work.Ramsay published four collections of Scottish songs between 1723 and 1737, works which combined traditional songs and ballads, works by Ramsay himself, and works by his contemporaries.With an "Explanation of the Scots words" at the end.ESTC T62726Rebacked, with endpapers renewed.With the armorial bookplate of Hilary John Torriano to the front pastedown, and the armorial bookplate of Andrew Muir to the front free endpaper. Rebacked, in a full calf binding with back strip laid down and boards restored. Endpapers renewed. Lacking the tail of the leather spine label. Hinges strained but firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedown and front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Title page and frontispiece provided in facsimile. Leaves A2 and 2I2 restored to fore edge. Repairs to gutters of a number of leaves restored. Pages significantly age toned, with handling marks throughout. Good Only

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
