Reprint, originally published 1902. Illustrated with a frontispiece, ninety-nine plates, many of which are in colour, and black-and-white sketches in text. Collated complete. A detailed account of life across the world, with chapters on England, Italy, Morocco, Egypt, Burma, Japan, Mexico, and more. Illustrated by Mortimer Luddington Menpes, an Australian-born British painter, author, printmaker and illustrator. With text from his daughter, Dorothy Menpes. In the original red cloth binding with gilt decoration. Externally, smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine and minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
