H. W. Brands is the Dickson Allen Anderson Centennial Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austinn. He lectures frequently across North America and in Europe. His essays and reviews have appeared in the "New York Times," the "Wall Street Journal, " the "Washington Post, " the "Los Angeles Times, " and "Atlantic Monthly." He is a regular guest on radio and television, and has participated in several historical documentary films.
