Description:
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1994. A near Fine unmarked copy. 224 pages. This edition is based on Thomas N. Taylor's 1916 translation from the first definitive Carmelite edition published in 1914. Therese de Lisieux (1873-1897) was born into a devout Catholic home in France. From early childhood she wanted to become a nun and at the age of 15 she entered the Carmelite convent at Lisieux, where two of her sisters were already nuns. She died aged 24 after a long struggle with tuberculosis. She was canonised in 1925. Her autobiography, sometimes known as 'The Story of the Little White Flower', was written at the request of her superiors, for the beneftit of the other nuns. When it was published, the story of her deep and simple piety attracted an enormous following. **** NOT AN EX LIBRARY COPY **** R6. Soft Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
