Der 1932 geborene Spanier Fernando Arrabal gehrte in den 1960er bis 1980er Jahren zu den weltweit meistgespielten Dramatikern. Der Erfolg seines dramatischen Werks hat jedoch dazugefhrt, dass sein inzwischen an Umfang beachtliches Romanwerk unbeachtet und - mit Ausnahme des erzhlerischen Frhwerks - bis heute fast gnzlich unerforscht geblieben ist. In diesem Buch werden zum ersten Mal mehrere der neueren Romane Arrabals bearbeitet. Die Untersuchung beschftigt sich mit La torre herida por el rayo (1983), La piedra iluminada (1985), La virgen roja (1987), La hija de King Kong (1988) und La extravagante cruzada de un castrado enamorado (1990). In einem ersten Schritt jeweils auf Basis ausgewhlter strukturalistischer Parameter beleuchtet, werden die Romane dann vor allem in Hinblick auf ihre inhaltliche Originalitt untersucht, wobei nicht zuletzt auch die zwischen Arrabals Theaterwerk und seiner Erzhlprosa bestehenden Beziehungen und seine Entwicklung als Autor betrachtet werden.
