No creasing to covers or to spine. Very clean very tight tanned pages with very tanned end papers, original unmarked boards, a little loss to spine ends and minor rubbing to corners. Top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. 527pp. Written by socialist campaigner Charles Booth whose intervention on poverty led to the establishment of an Old Age Pension. Includes statistics from Royal Statistical Society Paper of 1894. Scarce. From the Personal Library of the late Emeritus Professor Peter Townsend of Bristol University and the London School of Economics, Founding Professor of the University of Essex and founder of the Child Poverty Action Group. We are also selling a large number of other books from Professor Townsend's Collection including many of his signed and authored works.. First Edition. Hard Cover.
