About This Item

Hardcover. Very Good. Approximately 160 decent-sized photos (generally about 10 x 7cm.) inserted two to a page in corner mounts. Generally very good detail other than on 6 yellowed photos. No captions and no name in the album. Photos have been removed from the last third of the album (presumably after he returned to the U.S. since the last 3 photos before all of the blank pages show three buddies and a couple of dead deer, one of which has been strapped to a car with a Massachusetts license plate. Modest-sized album (16 x 24cm.) in decent condition. An article from the Pacific Stars and Stripes is laid in about involvement of the 2nd Infantry Division in the rebuilding effort. One circled paragraph states that PFC Thomas Tippett and fellow surveyors 2nd Engineers in mapping the area, laid out roads and drainage patterns and marked sites for public buildings. Several photos in the album are of a soldier with the name Tippett clearly readable above a breast pocket in at least one of the photos. At least 14 of the photos appear to relate to the village rebuilding effort. Five photos are of a USO camp show (probably country music) under a Bulldozer Bowl marquee.
