Giambattista Bodoni quite adored this rather light pastoral romance by Torquato Tasso. It was the second book he printed on his own private press (before he had permission to work on his own in addition to running the Royal press) in 1789, in a quarto format. Once his private He revisited the text twice more, again in smaller formats. The 1793 edition is the first and only folio production of the Aminta. A few copies bear a portrait of Tasso on the title page--our copy is one of the majority that do not. Exquisitely rebound in period style.

About Rodger Friedman Rare Book Studio
Rodger Friedman Rare Book Studio owes its name and its inspiration to the traditional Italian studio bibliografico. These small antiquarian bookshops, typically run by individuals who combine deep scholarship with a love of the printed object, remind us that underlying the words "study" and "studio" is the Latin term for zeal and devotion, studium. Since 1993, my goal has been to match discerning collectors with extraordinary books and manuscripts.
