About This Item

Amsterdam, Utrecht: Isaak Tirion, 1760. FIRST EDITION, first printing. Text in Dutch. 3 volumes. 1760, 1765, 1767. Complete set. The volumes have been professionally rebacked retaining original red and black morocco labels. There are five raised bands with gilt ruling and tooled design to the spine the boards are original and show the wear you would expect of books this age. Each book has the original green ribbon bookmark. Volume 1: Faded gilt title on spine; Some light soiling to end pages up to title page due to finger-prints; very light, very occasional foxing. Volume 2: Cracked label of volume number on spine; Front cover has 3 medium sized scratches. Volume 3: Repaired crack to rear board. It does not affect the binding and is only unsightly; Occasional light tanning. This is a famous 3 part set which contains a description and history of Amsterdam. It includes 78 plates, portraits, and maps. The Author, Jan Wagenaar, was the first historian to have access to the municipal archives, on which he based much of his book. (13 delen). . First Edition. Half Calf Leather. Very Good. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Hardcover.
