The covers are bumped & rubbed with slight bubbling to the cloth of the front cover. There are small dents in the spine. 282 pp. There is a light stain to the front endpaper & to a rear blank. Blue & white pictorial endpaper maps, full-page B&W illustrations & B&W plates. Good. <p>First edition.<p>The author was appointed to the Alaska Division of the Native School and Medical Service (Department of the Interior) with assignment to the Eskimo village of Wainwright on the Arctic coast. The book describes the year she spent as a teacher there.
