Small piece missing from a corner of the rear free endpaper. First Edition. Oblong hardcover. 7.75" wide by 5" tall. This picture book is a charming collection of comic drawings, mostly by Boz, J. G. Francis (Joseph Greene Francis, 1849-1930). Palmer Cox (including many of Cox's animals and Francis's cats). Full color art on the front cover could be by Kate Greenaway (see photo). Frontispiece by Boz shows Santa Claus with a finger aside his nose, and a sack of toys on his back. Despite its defects, this is a desirable copy of a book tough-to-find in condition as nice as this.
