Atabey. - Melchior Soiter was a lawyer born in Windau (Curland), who covered several dignities in the organization of the Holy Roman Empire and participated personally to the campaign he describes in this book. The first section gives an account of the Turkish invasion into Hungary in 1529-30, and the unsuccessful siege of Vienna. The second section, written by the jurist Johannes Schotenbeck, is an accurate explanation of the Ottoman military functionaries with several details on the tasks of every officer and a final economical statistics of the Turkish Empire, considering both its European and Asiatic territories.
