About This Item

Leiden: E.J. Brill, 1922-27. First edition. Very Good. 3 volumes. 27 cm. Text in German. Bound in original gray wraps. Spines tanned brown; volume two has a small chip missing from spine. Paper joints are tender, but the text is unblemished. While individual volumes can be found, the three-volume set is virtually unobtainable.

Part of the massive catalogue of the Royal Dutch Museum of Ethnography, devoted to the Indonesian island of Celebes (modern Sulawesi). Volume 1 covers South Celebes (now South Sulawesi), volume 2 covers Southeast, East and Middle Celebes (modern Southeast and Central Sulawesi), and volume 3 is devoted to North Celebes and the Talaud Islands.

About Rodger Friedman Rare Book Studio

Rodger Friedman Rare Book Studio owes its name and its inspiration to the traditional Italian studio bibliografico. These small antiquarian bookshops, typically run by individuals who combine deep scholarship with a love of the printed object, remind us that underlying the words "study" and "studio" is the Latin term for zeal and devotion, studium. Since 1993, my goal has been to match discerning collectors with extraordinary books and manuscripts.
