Inscribed on the half title page in French by the editor and translator, Gaston Wiet: (a son excellence Naguib Hilali Pasha Hommage ...) to the last prime minister of the Egyptian kingdom, Naguib al Hilali (the prime minister of the last 18 hours before the coup-d'etat by Nasser). This book consists of the military memoirs by Nicolas b. Youssuf Turc (1763-1828) the lebanese born who came from a greek familiy originally from Turkey and travelled to Egypt where he was employed as a scribe in the Napoleonic expedition there. Later he returned to Lebanon and employed in the service of the Lebanese Emir, Bashir el Shihabi. In fine contemporary Hard cover binding.
