About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1960. Introduction by Nancy Hale 8vo size gray clothbound hardcover with red and green titles and decorations; 302 deckle edged pages with some black and white decorations and larger illustrations throughout Synopsis: "Fortunate is the family that have been brought up on the Peterkins, that marvelously feckless crew whose preposterous domestic tribulations are a happy antidote to the sticky syrup of togetherness. The Peterkins may have lived in a Victorian world, but their bumbling solutions to the central problems of life - whether it is a cup of coffee that has been salted rather than sugared, or Christmas tree that is too tall for the living room - remain a true reflection of man's attempts to cope with the daily catastrophes of family living." Ex-library with minimal treatments: a Dewey label on spine, tape transfer marks on covers. There is a black mark on inside front cover, significant edgewear and bumped and worn head and heel of spine and corners. We note stains in the margin of the two of the pages in the Preface and page 48, 58, 66, 77, 78 and one creased page corner. . Cloth. Acceptable/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
