About This Item

New York: Midwest Film Productions, 1987. Draft script for the 1988 film. Noted as copy No. 13 in manuscript ink on the title page. Internally reproduced during production, with photocopied punch holes on the left margin.

Based on Susan Sandler's 1985 play, about a young bookstore clerk's attempts to conceal her lower-class Jewish upbringing in order to succeed in the literary world.

Set and shot on location in Manhattan.

Black generic card wrappers. Title page present, dated January, 1987, with credits for screenwriter Susan Sandler and director Joan Micklin Silver. 120 leaves, with last page of text numbered 119. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Good only, with moderate loss on the rear wrapper, bound internally with a silver prong.
