First edition thus. 12mo; vii; 369pp + [7pp publisher's ads]; black stamped title centered between blind-stamped decoration on red buckram; owner's bookplate to front pastedown; 8 b&w photographic illustrated plates incl. frontispiece; a few tiny spots; unclipped color pictorial dust jacket without price, rear panel lists other photoplay publications, verso printed with other publisher's titles, chipping to edges, age-toning of paper, light soiling; near fine in good plus dj. The novel was published by The Macmillan Company in 1902, and then re-published by Grosset and Dunlap with the release of the silent film in 1924, produced by and starring Mary Pickford and based on the 16th century story of love and revenge in England. Illustrated with scenes from the movie.
