About This Item

Chicago: Elliott & Beezley, 1890. Original stories by Hope Ledyard, John D. Long, Mrs. L.L. Sloanaker, Faith Latimer, Clara Doty Bates, Mrs. S.J. Brigham, Rev. Edward A. Rand, Ruth Lamb, Cousin Annie and others. 25 full-page color lithographs designed especially for this book under the supervision of Opper the famous artist of Puck. Edited by Daphne Dale. 8vo size dark green clothbound hardcover with three color black, gilt and silver illustration on cover and spine. Both color and black and white illustrations; 224 toned pages. Illustrated endpapers. Worn and bumped corners and head and heel of spine. Both pastedowns split. Shaken. Sewn binding split at page 80 with page 81 detached and laid in. (See our photographs.) We note some soil in the margins of page 33, 34, 35, 49, 53, 101, 147, 183 and there may be some soil on other pages as this is a much loved children's book. We note either a publishing defect or damage: the very bottom of page 194 is cut off at a diagonal just below the text on one side and illustration on other (so nothing is lost.) Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
