The Viking Press, New York, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Illustrated. Will list of illustrations. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece of Erasmus, drawn by Albrecht Durer in 1520; and there are another 11 illustrations throughout the text. Cream coloured cloth covered boards with red coloured decoration and author' initials to the front panel; and five red coloured stripes and red coloured titles to the back strip. Dark pink coloured tint to the top text edge. Biography of the 15th / 16th century philosopher, theologian, humanitarian and promoter of peace Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus known as Erasmus. Translated by Eden and Cedar Paul. Rubbing of the book corners and back strip edges a little fading of the back strip with a nasty brown stain present for three quarters of the back strip's link – please see photograph. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. A little offset tanning to the end pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [10], 3 - 247, [1] pages,. Deckled Front Edge (rough cut).
