DANIEL KEHLMANN was born in Munich in 1975 and now divides his time between Berlin and New York. He is the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Candide Prize, the Literary Prize of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Doderer Prize, the Kliest Prize, the Welt Literature Prize, and the Thomas Mann Prize.
