About This Item

London: Hodder And Stoughton, 1974. 1974. First Edition, First Printing. This copy is being offered as a READING COPY only. Hardcover. In 1972 the author began a traverse of the great Sahara desert, from the Atlantic to the Nile, by camel and himself. The essential reason for making his attempt was to examine the bases of fear, to explore an extremity of human experience. He crossed 2,000 miles of the most merciless country on earth and survived. Tamanrasset was reached March of 1973 and the journey ended here... exhausted through illness and deprivation, he could go no further. Although the crossing was not completed, his journey was a personal victory and an inspiration to us. Maps, drawings and photographs in color and b/w provided. An appendix follows the last chapter. While this book ia a library cancel in dust jacket, the book remains bright, sound and complete.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Reading Copy.
