About This Item
Houghton Mifflin Co. Harrison, New York. 1947. Second Revised and Enlarged Edition, 40th printing stated. xxiv, 230pages. Hardcover. The blue-green covers are in very good plus condition, only minor bumping on top and bottom of spine and corners. The title, author, and bird drawing are in blue on front cover and spine. The dust jacket is generally in good plus condition; there is fraying/wrinkling along the the top and bottom edges, with some toning on back cover. The jacket is not price-clipped; it is protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in good condition. The most significant condition issue is a previous owners' name and address written in ink on the half-title page, the front free end paper, and the rear inside flap of the dust jacket. Otherwise, the pages are clean with no additional writing or markings detected. The book includes 60 plates (many in color), numerous line illustrations, and bird silhouettes on the front and back end papers. All illustrations are by the author, Roger Tory Peterson. A good hardcover copy with dust jacket of one of the most important natural history books published in the 20th century.
