About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1934. First Edition, First Issue. Near Fine. First edition, first issue with 1934 listed on the title page and "bob-pumper" listed in the index. Signed twice by Roger Tory Peterson--once in red on the title page, and again in black on the dedication page with an inscription reading, "with best wishes for good birding! [signed] Roger Tory Peterson." Bound in publisher's pebbled boards stamped in silver, lacking the dust jacket. Near Fine with rubbing to extremities, pages toned, light creasing and light staining to the top margins of preliminary pages, occasional light pencil marks though some erased, bookseller ticket to rear pastedown. Scarce. An influential guide that transformed the world of birding, bringing its joys to the layman.
