Vol. XLI, I of the prodigious series edited by Frederico Carlos Hoehne, director of the Instituto de Botanica at Saõ Paolo, Brazil from 1940 to 1959. Authored by distinguished American botanist/taxonomist Philip A Munz. Sixty-two pages of text in Portuguese accompanied by 51 finely detailed full-page illustration plates, forty-nine in b&w and two in color, covering 5 genera and 45 species of Onagraceae. Very Good, in printed stiff wraps. A few small closed splits in the paper covering of the spine panel. Custom engraved bookplate of Pasadena, California horticulturist Charlotte Hoak on the verso of the front wrap.
