A variant edition published with "Observations on the late Queen Elizabeth" printed on title page published later the same year. Written by Sir Robert Naunton, Master of the Court of Wards. Small slim 4to, approximately 180 x 140 mm, 7 x 5½ inches, woodcut printer's device to title page, pages: [2], 1-38 (followed by 8 pages wrongly numbered 33, 34, 31, 36, 37, 38, 35, 40, but collation and catchwords correct), then 41-44 last page blank, see ESTC R8114. Bound in half calf by Hering, binder's name on first pastedown, gilt title and date to spine, green paper covered boards. Spine, corners and green boards rubbed, gilt title rubbed with loss, small chip to head of spine, slight cracking to hinges at head and tail, covers still firmly attached, pale age-browning, foxing and small repair to inner margin of title page, no loss, tip of 2 corners and small tear to 1 lower margin, neatly repaired, not near text, 7 tiny old ink corrections to text, pale age-browning and foxing to text, mostly to margins, a good copy in worn binding.
