London: Michael Joseph Limited,, 1946. First edition, signed limited issue, number 551 of 750 copies, numbered and signed by the author, and beautifully produced on handmade paper. This long poetical sequence on Sackville-West's favourite subject "tries to sum up her own horticultural aesthetic and is in some respects superior to its predecessor The Land" (ODNB). Large octavo. Original brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, gilt lettering and floral border to front cover, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. With 7 section title vignettes by James Broom-Lyne. Contemporary ownership inscription to free front endpaper quoting lines from the poem. Spine lightly sunned, else a bright, near-fine copy. Cross & Ravenscroft-Hulme A.44(b).
