The World's Greatest Books Aldine Edition Great Plays (English) by Marlowe, Jonson, Fletcher, Sheridan, Payne and Browning With Biographical Notes and a Critical Introduction by Joseph O'Connor. Green clothbound hardcover; 431 deckle edge pages with black and white frontispiece and other black and white and color illustrations (photogravures.) Tissue coverings over illustrations have text about the artwork. Contents include: Edward the Second by Christopher Marlowe The Alchemist by Ben Jonson The Faithful Shepherdess by John Fletcher The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan Brutus, or the Fall of Tarquin by John Howard Payne A Blot in the 'Schutcheon by Robert Browning Binding is in overall good condition with some edgewear and some some white areas that appear to be transfer from another item. The title label on spine has some minor chipping and is tanned. Pages are toned with the deckle edging being a bit darker. The illustrations credit page has some light soil to the inside of the page. We note penciled marginalia on at least 6 pages in the Introduction section and four pages, (three in Edward the Second) with some light foxed spots. There is also some light foxing to inside cover and fep. One of the blank pages after the fep wasn't cut at outside margin, a production error. Extra shipping applies if not sent via U.S. Media Mail.
