About This Item

UK: Gollancz, 1989. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett First Edition Gollancz 1989. A near fine copy that has no previous owner's markings. Contents and edges free of foxing or toning and unblemished throughout. In a near fine dust jacket that has no loss or tears. Not price clipped and has no fading to spine. "Guards! Guards!" by Terry Pratchett is a humorous fantasy novel set in the Discworld universe. The story follows the Night Watch, a ragtag group of misfit guards in the city of Ankh-Morpork. When a secret brotherhood summons a dragon to seize power, chaos ensues. Led by the determined Captain Vimes, the guards must rise to the occasion and protect the city. With Pratchett's signature wit and satire, the novel explores themes of heroism, corruption, and the power of ordinary people. As the guards face comedic challenges and unlikely alliances, they discover that true heroism can be found in the most unexpected places.

Synopsis

Here there be dragons...and the denizens of Ankh-Morpork wish one huge firebreather would return from whence it came. Long believed extinct, a superb specimen of draco nobilis ("noble dragon" for those who don't understand italics) has appeared in Discworld's greatest city. Not only does this unwelcome visitor have a nasty habit of charbroiling everything in its path, in rather short order it is crowned King (it is a noble dragon, after all...).
