About This Item

(New York City): (The Grenfell Press), 2006. Fine.. Signed limited first edition, one of fifteen copies, of this striking and tactile artist's book, telling a hazy tale with high-contrast woodcuts. Sarah Plimpton is a multi-media artist with a predilection for abstract shapes that dance on the edges of familiarity. In HAND OVER HAND, she combines Western and Eastern bookbinding styles with prose that echoes and evoke her bold woodblock illustrations. An attractive production. 10'' x 7''. Original grey handmade paper wrappers with red title plate, red sewing to spine, French flaps. Illustrated with four leaves bound fukuro-toji style, of black-and-white and red woodcuts (eight in all). [20] pages printed rectos only. Printed in Dante by Brad Ewing. Signed by Plimpton to colophon, numbered 5 of 15. Clean and bright.
