About This Item

Sun Dial Press, 1943-01-01. First THUS. Hardcover. Good/Acceptable. First Edition for Sun Dial Press. Dust jacket is rubbed, heavily chipped, torn and missing pieces. Pages are tanned. Nothing in this volume has appeared in book form before this date. Some of the best short stories are here, including, The Lost Boy, Chickamauga, and The Lion at Morning. Some of the selections also have considerable biographical interest, such as No Cure for It, The Return of the Prodigal and God's Lonely Man. Also, the book contains a note on Thomas Wolfe which presents new and little know information about the author's unique literary methods.

Synopsis

The third and last book posthumously culled from the mountains of manuscripts Thomas Wolfe left behind when he died at the age of 37. It includes short stories and ten chapters from a longer piece of fiction, some of the work considered to be his best and most mature work. This work includes a Note of Thomas Wolfe by Edward C. Aswell, Wolfe's last editor who published three of his books after Wolfe's death.
