Laid in with this letter is a newspaper clipping of a letter to the editor of the Atlanta Constitution published in November 1949 that Smith had written, titled "Explaining Her Book", the browned clipping the cause of browning to the TLS and the front end pages. The text block is sound, and the text is a bit toned and has just a little sporadic foxing. Bartholomew Figures Moore (1801-1878) was a North Carolina attorney and politician and was largely a Union loyalist during the Civil War He was born in Halifax County and graduated from UNC in 1820 and was a trustee of the University 1840-1868 and then again from 1871 until his death.
