London: Published by T. R. for J. Martyn and J. Allestry, 1667. First Edition, 2nd state. Engraved arms of the Royal Society on the verso of the license leaf. Without the engraved frontispiece and without the double "of" at p.85, lines 6-7. [16], 438 pages, errata page. 2 engraved folding plates, one detached and laid in. Bound in contemporary calf, Good, red leather spine label lettered in gilt rubbed and barely legible, 1/2" loss of leather at spine ends, boards rubbed, end papers with corners chipped and edges toned, small worm hole in bottom margin, not affecting text, from final end page to p.275, joints fragile yet still holding. The names in ink at title page of "Hen. Tenney" and "Joh. Worth", along with a third name not deciphered. Interior pages clean and unmarked. Altogether a quite presentible unsophisticated copy of this first history of the Royal Society. . First Edition. Full Calf. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
