The French Royal Historiographer wrote a number of works, beginning with "Abrégé". This history of Spain traces the origins of the country in Volume 1. In Volume 2 Ferdinand marries Isabella, the Jews are expelled from the country, Columbus discovers America (p. 97), Pizarro discovers Peru (p.171) and France and Spain battle in Italy, the Low Countries, wherever they could. The second half, the last 300 pages or so, deal with conflicts of the years between 1648 and 1658, This is a rare book-- I did not find it in OCLC World Catalog, the BN; one copy in COPAC; not in Brunet (but Cioranescu 17th Century, 28251); viaLibri recorded only a 1682 edition. Bound in contemporary full leather, rebacked; very good. Stock#OB780.

This work is a collection of various authors on European countries focusing on geography and historical significance – one of the earliest travel guides. One particular entry in the series was Godfried Hegenitius's 'Itinerarium Frisio-Hollandicum' – a history and description of Frisian Dutch cities including The Hague, Leiden, and Rotterdam Dordrecht; as well as the voyages of Ortellius and Vivianus in the Low Countries and Brabant.

1675 Pliny the Younger Panegyricus Emperors Trajan & Domitian ROME Military
Pliny the Younger, one of the most notable 1st-century historians, is best remembered for his written works and orations. His best-known, and still widely popular work is his 'Epistles', which was a series of personal letters to other Roman figures. They give an important view of Roman everyday life as well as an interesting perspective on Pliny's views against Christianity.
In addition to his letters, Pliny is remembered by his only known oration – 'Panegyricus'. 'Panegyricus' was a speech given to the Senate describing Emperor Trajan, his administrative actions, views on justice, military discipline, and commerce. He compares Trajan to other figures most notably Emperor Domitian. This 1675 edition was published in Lugduni Batavorum by Hackiana and includes notes and annotations by Dominique Baudius.
