Philadelphia, New York, London, Toronto: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1940. First Book Club Edition. First book club edition with the Haddon Craftsmen listed at the bottom of the copyright page. This book measures approximately 9.5" x 6.5", with 375 numbered pages. Original dust jacket.

This book is in very good plus condition. Minor wear to the edges of the boards. Previous owner's bookplate on verso of half-title page. Dust jacket is in very good minus condition. Moderate chipping to the spine ends and top of the rear panel.

"I Married Adventure" is Osa Johnson's memoir that details her adventures alongside her husband Martin, an explorer and pioneering photographer. The book documents the indigenous people and wildlife the pair encountered and was later adapted into groundbreaking films such as "Among the Cannibals of the South Pacific" (1918), and "Simba" (1928). Osa's engaging text is accompanied by black and white photographs that made the couple famous.

I saw the Johnsons present their travel movies when I was very young. My grandparents took me, and the book was on their shelf....now on mine. I love this book and have read it many times. The story of their romance is charming, and her courage at a young age is amazing. You may often see it in decorator/design magazines, because of the beautiful zebra print cloth cover.
