About This Item
London: Unpublished Letter, 1872. No Binding. Very Good. Autograph letter with musical fragment from the Anglo-Italian composer then living in London, Ciro Pinsuti, to the English tenor and occasional composer W H Cummings, congratulating him on 'the great success of your charming Cantata', particularly the 'lovely subject in the Introduction.. and the quartett with Harp Accom[panimen]t..' Pinsuti laments the failure of his fellow country-men to live up to Cummings' vocal quality: 'I only wish that my Italian Tenors could do half as much, but alas! some them have as yet to learn their notes.' Pinsuti signs his name in full, giving an address in New Broad Street. The letter occupies 2 pages of a folded bifolium; paper blind stamped 'SS Maurizio Lazzaro'. Very Good 1872
